As a guide, expect to invest between £120–£200 per square metre for a complete LPC Hardcrete installation including preparation, application, and sealing. Larger areas typically benefit from better economies of scale, while complex layouts, difficult access, or extensive preparation work may increase costs. What microcement colours are available?
LPC Hardcrete Microcement is available in white or grey as standard, but we can create virtually any colour you desire. Technical performance
How thick is the LPC Hardcrete microcement layer?
LPC Hardcrete Microcement is applied at a very low thickness of just 2–3mm in total. This slim profile makes it ideal for refurbishments where you can't afford to raise floor levels significantly, and it works beautifully with underfloor heating systems without affecting heat distribution.
Is the sealed surface scratch-resistant?
Yes. Our professional sealing system creates a protective polyurethane film that is highly resistant to scratches, abrasions, and daily wear. While no floor is completely scratch-proof, properly sealed microcement stands up exceptionally well to furniture, foot traffic, and general use. It's also resistant to stains, grease, and chemical compounds, making it ideal for busy households and commercial spaces.
Will the microcement colour fade or yellow over time?
No. We use UV-stable, non-yellowing resins in both the microcement itself and the sealing system. Your floor will maintain its colour and clarity for years to come, even in areas with plenty of natural sunlight. Can microcement be repaired if damaged?
Yes. One of the benefits of microcement is that localized repairs can be made if needed. Small scratches can often be buffed out, and more significant damage can be repaired by applying additional layers and re-sealing. However, with proper care and maintenance, your microcement floor should remain in excellent condition for many years.
Installation & programme
How long does installation take?
Typically, microcement floor installation takes 5–6 days from start to finish, depending on the size and complexity of your project: Day 1 — surface preparation and primer; Day 2 — base layer with reinforcement mesh; Day 3 — first finish coat; Day 4 — second finish coat; Days 5–6 — sealing with hardener and protective sealer. After installation, the floor needs 72 hours before pedestrian traffic and 28 days to achieve complete curing and maximum durability.
What preparation is needed before installation?
The existing surface must be structurally sound, dry, and free from any previous sealers, grease, or contaminants that could affect adhesion. We'll thoroughly assess your substrate during the site survey. Any cracks or structural issues need to be repaired first. For installations over tiles, we apply a specialist primer to ensure perfect adhesion.
Will the installation be disruptive?
We work efficiently to minimise disruption to your home or business. The installation process involves some dust and requires the room to be clear of furniture and fixtures. However, our team works cleanly and professionally, and the relatively quick installation time means you'll be back to normal rapidly. The products are low-VOC and have minimal odour.
Can it be installed in cold weather?
Microcement requires mild temperatures for proper curing. We can only install when surface temperatures are above 5°C and air temperatures are between 10°C and 40°C. We won't install if there's a risk of frost or if heavy rainfall is forecast within 24 hours. This ensures the best possible finish and long-term durability.
When can I walk on my new floor?
You can resume light pedestrian traffic after 72 hours (3 days) under normal temperature and humidity conditions. However, the floor will continue to cure and harden over 28 days, reaching its full strength and durability at that point. We recommend being gentle with the surface during this initial curing period.

Can microcement be applied to my existing floor?
Yes! One of the greatest advantages of microcement is that it can be applied directly over existing surfaces including tiles, concrete, screed, plasterboard, wood, and even metal. This means no demolition is required in most cases, saving you time, money, and hassle. During our site survey, we'll assess your existing floor and confirm its suitability.
Is microcement suitable for bathrooms and wet areas?
Absolutely. When properly sealed with our professional hardener and sealer system, microcement becomes waterproof and highly resistant to moisture. This makes it perfect for bathrooms, wet rooms, shower areas, and even swimming pool surrounds. The seamless finish means there are no grout lines where water or bacteria can accumulate, making it both hygienic and easy to clean.
Can it be used with underfloor heating?
Yes. The 2–3mm thickness of LPC Hardcrete Microcement makes it ideal for use with underfloor heating systems. The thin profile ensures excellent heat transfer without compromising the system's efficiency, and the cement-based material has excellent thermal stability—it won't crack or deform due to temperature changes.
Can LPC Hardcrete be installed outdoors?
Yes. Unlike many microcement systems that are interior-only, LPC Hardcrete is suitable for both internal and external applications. It's weather-resistant, freeze-thaw stable, and can withstand exposure to the elements once properly cured and sealed. This makes it perfect for London terraces, patios, outdoor stairs, balconies, and poolside areas. What kind of finish can I expect?
Microcement creates a smooth, seamless surface with a hand-trowelled finish that has subtle texture and character. The final appearance depends on your chosen application method—you can opt for a refined, polished look or a more textured, trowelled finish. We seal the surface with either a matt or gloss finish depending on your preference, giving you complete control over the final aesthetic.
Is microcement slippery when wet?
The slip resistance of microcement depends on the sealer finish you choose. A matt or satin finish provides better slip resistance than a high-gloss finish, making it more suitable for bathrooms and wet areas. We can advise on the best finish for your specific application to ensure both safety and style. The sealed surface is water-resistant, so liquids sit on top rather than being absorbed, but they should still be wiped up promptly.
How do I clean and maintain it?
Microcement is wonderfully low-maintenance. For daily cleaning, simply sweep or vacuum to remove dust and debris, then mop with clean water and a pH-neutral soap or mild detergent. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners as these can damage the protective seal over time. The seamless surface means there are no grout lines to scrub—just wipe and go.
