Polished concrete through the lower ground and basement of a lateral town-house extension — white above, grey below, light bouncing between the two.
A substantial St John’s Wood town house with a lateral basement extension and a walk-on glazed rooflight bringing daylight deep into the lower levels. The floors needed to carry that light, not absorb it.
We installed polished concrete across both levels in two tones — a pale white on the lower ground and a deeper grey in the basement — each ground and polished to bounce the daylight through the connected spaces.
320m² of seamless polished concrete that turns a below-ground extension into the brightest part of the house.
