  • The benefits of polished concrete

    Why is it so different?

Strong and durable

Polished concrete flooring is fast becoming an architectural choice for residential concrete floors and throughout the retail flooring sector.

A polished concrete floor offers a wide range of finishes ranging from terrazzo aggregate exposure to a polished cement finish.

Choosing the right polished concrete flooring system can be difficult without knowing the limitations and features of how the polished concrete process works.

Environmentally friendly

Environmentally friendly: Polished concrete contains no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) which makes it an environmentally friendly surface. There are no coatings applied, such as epoxies, urethanes, or waxes. There is no slurry or hazardous waste.

Less lighting needed: The highly reflective nature of polished concrete means greater visibility and fewer overhead lights required. Increased ambient lighting will reduce the energy bill as well as look beautiful.

Sustainable construction: Polished concrete utilises existing concrete surfaces, eliminating additional materials such as coverings/coatings and moving towards sustainable building.

Low maintenance, low cost

Polished concrete is one of the most cost effective flooring solutions available. With saved energy, low maintenance requirements, and especially the long-lasting nature of the product, polished concrete proves to be an economical as well as a beautiful, flooring and surface:

Easy to clean: polished concrete requires only occasional damp mopping, and can resist scuff marks.

Hard to mark: The concrete surface inhibits stains from oils or liquids and marks from heels or rubber soles

Low maintenance: Unlike other solid floorings, there’s no need for messy waxes or coatings as well as the associated labour, time, and expense to apply them.

Long life: Polished concrete has a much longer lifespan than materials such as vinyl composite tile, stone tile or wooden or laminate flooring and only needs to be refinished once every five to ten years.

Ready to roll: Disruption during the polishing process is minimal, and use can start using the surface can start almost immediately.
